Mohammad Ashraful interviewed by the ICC

Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful has been interviewed by the International Cricket Council's anti-corruption unit, amid reports he has been suspended by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

Ashraful, 28, has been questioned by the ICC's anti-corruption and security unit (ACSU) as part of investigations into the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Reports from Dhaka suggest that Ashraful has been banned from domestic and international matches by the BCB until the matter is resolved and it is known that the President of the BCB Nazmul Hassan was due to address local media on Tuesday (June 4) morning. The BCB were not available for comment.

A spokesman for the ICC said: "We can confirm that the ACSU has interviewed Mohammad Ashraful, who is helping us in the ongoing investigations.

"Due to sensitivities around these investigations, the ICC cannot share any more details at this stage."

Ashraful is one of Bangladesh's best-known players, representing the country in 61 Tests, 177 one-day internationals and 23 Twenty20s.

He represented Dhaka Gladiators in the BPL.
