N Srinivasan agrees to step down as BCCI chairman

According to various reports, BCCI chairman N Srinivasan has agreed to step down from his position owing to pressure from colleagues and the media.

Srinivasan’s son-in-law, Gurunath Meiyappan, has been implicated in the spot-fixing scandal that has currently gripped the IPL, and Indian cricket as a whole.

Ever since the Gurunath’s arrest, there was immense pressure on Srinivasan to ‘do the right thing’ and step down from his position.

However, Srinivasan was adamant saying he had done nothing wrong and would not resign as the chairman of the Board.

This decision led to a backlash among the rest of the board members, with high-profile personalities such as secretary Sanjay Jagdale, treasurer Ajay Shirke, and IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla handing in their resignation in protest.

The official announcement is expected to be made public in the next few hours.
